Anime Expo New York 2002

Day One

1 PM to 6 PM

Chun Li

I got to the con around 1 PM. While I was walking through Times Square, I met up with a girl, Jess, and her mom, Arlene, who saw my Chun Li hair and followed me to the Mariott. We got online to register. I saw a Eternal Sailor Jupiter online, so I begged the girl behind me to hold my spot in line, and I ran up to take a picture of her. Turns out: 1) I know her from online - Grace from the Sailor Moon connection and 2) her costume is by Setsuna Kou. Awesome. I went back to my place in line and struck up a conversation with the girl behind me and her mom, Jaimmy. Her mom went upstairs to lobby to rest, so Jaimmy decided to come with me and meet my friends. We registered.
My Chun Li costume.
I had pictures of me taken from the moment I got online, which was really cool. :)
My costume was made by my friend Jenny.
After we registered, we started walking to Artist's Alley to plug AFO. We met up with Steve Carrot Gilder who came with us to Artists Alley. I went to every table (there weren't a lot of people, and it certainly was not crowded) and gave everyone information on AFO. Jaimmy (who was only staying for one day) wanted to go to Dealer's Room. On way there, we were stopped a lot more, and we ended up meeting with DJ Ranma S and other NYO! cosplayer. There was a long line for the dealers room, but it moved quick enough. The dealers room was HUGE! I didn't get through all of it because I had to go at 3 to the Zeigfried room to record the lines for the cosplay skit I joined the night before.
Grace, the creator of the Sailor Moon connection.
I saw Widya outside!!! I met him when I asked if he had seen a tall black Ranma and he seemed surprised. I got the hugest hug, and a pic with him!
Me and Kevin Lillard!
I was filmed for scifininjatheater, saw Brian again, and met more NYO! cosplayers that made up the skit we were doing.. Registering for the skit took a long time, not because of the setup (they were actually pretty organized and very nice) but because we were all disorganized. We went up a few floors to record lines, which also ended up taking a long time because the staff had to discuss judging matters for some reason and we had to wait outside. I met KEVIN LILLARD!! and took pic with him also. He took pics of me. Lots of people took the group pic of NYO! cosplayers. I had to head home like 4:30ish because I got hungry and had to take care of the dog I was puppysitting at home.
After the con.
SM Pics taken today: Grace as Sailor Jupiter, two Tuxes (one w/o e-mail) and one Kakyuu.

Jenny said I could keep the costume. ^.^
