I think it's every little girl's dream to travel to the land of Oz--the ruby slippers were just an added bonus for me. I had actually dressed up as Dorothy when I was around 11 years old, and convinced my friend Helen to be the Scarecrow, her cousin Megan to be the Tin Woodsman, and a family friend Deborah to be our Cowardly Lion, but licensed costumes weren't really a thing back then, and I was a TERRIBLE Dorothy: I had on a randomly colored plaid jumper instead of blue checked gingham, a white turtleneck, and of course the giant ugly plastic framed glasses I used to wear. I don't even remember what I had on my feet. (My friends looked AWESOME, however.) Now that licensed costumes (and incredibly sparkly ruby slippers!) are readily available, I wanted to finally do this costume the justice it deserved. The makeup was easy, but I never would have gotten my hair into two French braids (I never learned how to French braid at ALL) if it hadn't been for JenyBean's patient help.
