In 2011, the calendar worked out so that I would be able to see all of my family over the course of the two days of Christmas--Louis and I spent the night at his parents the night before Christmas Eve, and then the morning of Christmas Eve his mother, Mama Lori, made reservations for us to have a truly elegant Christmas brunch at JoJo's, a more intimate offshoot of the famous Jean-Georges restaurant in New York City. The decor of JoJo's struck me as truly Dickensian, so visions of a Victorian-inspired EGL dress danced in my head. I made the mistake of showing it to my mother-in-law to ask if it was appropriate, and thus I received my first Christmas gift of the season a few weeks early. Perhaps it's not the type of outfit normally seen in JoJo's--in fact, the lady who took our coats asked us if we were sure didn't mean to go to the Alice's Teacup chapter located right next door--but it's exactly what I had in mind.
