Shopping for costumes online these days is a little tricky only because *everyone* seems to use the same stock photo--so you really don't know *whose* stock photo you're looking at, and thus, whether what you get is going to even remotely resemble the picture. After browsing through Google's shopping results, I decided on Syndrome Store's because they actually looked like they had original pictures, and those pictures looked pretty good. I followed the measuring chart as closely as I could, but because I picked my size by my largest measurement (guess which) for safety, the rest of the costume ended up being pretty big on me. The dress itself I had to take to the local tailor, but I did my best to shorten the ankle bows and the apron ties myself. I'm proudest of the Frankensteining job I did on the frilled collar; because of the way it comes together in the front, I had to take a good few inches in a single chunk out of the middle in the back, and then stitch it back together. I'm sure a true seamstress could have done a more seamless job, but it didn't look half bad. Patti made a hair extension, along with the gray bow and the little white "crown", that clips on to my main wig. I also wanted to have the perfect shoes, so I found flat, shiny patent leather Mary Janes on eBay, sold by
