My Collection
Sakura Matsuri 2018
at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden
April 28
These first few photos are dark because I had changed my camera settings for a previous picture and forgot to change them back.
At first view, I thought the trees were really in bloom.
But when I got to the cherry esplenade, I could see most of the cherry blossoms were still buds.
Some of them were open, though.
A kimono-clad woman amongst the group
Turtles!
I think this is around the time I remembered to reset my camera settings.
I was looking to take pictures of yellow flowers...
...because I was wearing a yellow yukata this year.
I had seen Black Panther not too long before. This amused me.
Oragami dragons for Christine~
Inverted colors.
A nice couple
All of her accessories are so pretty!
This was such a cute group I wanted a picture of them, but then they asked me to jump in the picture with them.
What a lovely dress!
I really should not have gone off the path to take this picture.
Daffodil Hill
She's the Lady Amalthea from The Last Unicorn! One of my favorites.
A gent in yukata
The parasols really help with the sun.
Such beautiful flowers.
A close up.
Kotori! Not Best Girl, but maybe Second Best Girl.
This was a really gorgeous furisode.
A shot of our obi--though mine is pre-tied.
She had a Sailor Moon charm as her obidome!
Another great group.
Even the baby is wearing kimono!
I like when cosplayers were kimono variants of their characters to the Sakura Matsuri.
Sakura and Tomoyo on a picnic.
Excellently chosen color combination.
White flowers in bloom.
I think my next yukata will be pink!
Though I love black and red as well.
So glad to see so many people wearing yukata.
Like this mother and daughter.
This is when David Ng arrived!
Her boots match her kimono!
Steve, who took the rest of these photos.
This tree looks really full.
I love Love LOVE being stopped for photos.
The view one way from the little Japanese pavilion.
The view the other way.
Ducky!
And turtle.
The torii
My very Minako bow that I had since I was a kid (and lost later that day.)
The pond
The koi swarming
At least some of these trees were in bloom.
I didn't even notice the pretty purple hair in front of us!
The flowers over the water.
One end of the lake.
Looking back at the pavillion.
Another view of the torii.
Turtles sunning themselves!
So cute.
The small Shinto shrine
My yearly visit
More beautiful flowers
A mother and daughter arriving as we were leaving.
