I don't remember what exactly put it into my head to be The Emmy for Halloween, but I know once I got the idea, I couldn't get it out of there. I've been telling people (people who wouldn't be at my regular Halloween party, anyway), "I'm going to be an Emmy!" for a full year now, feels like. I thought it was a good idea: instantly recognizable, and yet highly unlikely anyone else was going to show up in the same costume. Plus, I had been a good girl and worn store-bought costumes for a good four years in a row; it was time to wow them again.
I contacted Athena-chan in mid-August about making the costume, and she agreed. She made the gold dress with attached wings, the globe (which is easily partially deconstructable to flatten it for storage) and found the perfect shade wig. I bought a gold lamé bodysuit that reached from neck to wrists and ankles so I wouldn't have to paint my entire body, and bought gold theatrical makeup and mixing liquid to cover my face, hands, and feet.
